The optimism bias





underestimate (verb) = to not understand how powerful or important sth is
Do not underestimate your own abilities.

oblivious (adjective) = not aware of sth
Oblivious to his presence in the room, she kept telling terrible things about him.

persistent (adjective) = constant, determined
If you want to make progress, remain persistent in what you do.

jittery (adjective) = nervous, anxious, apprehensive
I felt jittery before my first job interview.

prophecy (noun) = prediction, when somebody says that sth will happen in the future
The prophecy of the ancient was all about the world's end.

pitfall (noun) = a trap, likely mistake, danger, difficulty
The robber thought he's going to run away, but he was cought in a pitfall.

acutely (adverb) = very strongly 
I was acutely aware of the fact that he was going to propose.
